Before you enter into the selection do you know what is really involved in becoming an Aylesham Court Member?

Miss Aylesham and her court comprises of 6 young ladies, the Senior court is aged from 13-21 years old and the Junior court is aged from 7—12 yrs old (Age as on the day of the selection)
Over the course of the year the court will attend in excess of 40 events across the whole of Kent, Sussex, London and possibility of Disneyland paris.

The season starts with selection evenings much the same as ours, and then we attend other carnival selections, then in May is when the carnivals themselves start. We will attend the carnivals with our carnival float, take part in the procession and we also get judged during the course of the day.

After the carnival (sometimes before) we will then receive refreshments from the host court and then the formal part of the evening is then underway where the court members will then have to take part in saluting the host court. All training will be given to the court and a chaperone will be with them at all times.

Carnival is very hard work and is tiring, but on the good side you make lots of friends, see the County by attending carnivals and represent Aylesham at the same time.

Carnival is fun, enjoyable and rewarding!

Carnival in Aylesham has been going since around 1929 so help continue a village tradition.

The only other request is that the entrants MUST live in the village of Aylesham, Adisham, Nonington & Snowdown.
